The 7.5km Orewa Estuary cycle and wallkway crosses 5 bridges and was a Rodney District Council legacy project which was completed by the Auckland SuperCity Council.
Te Ara Tahuna opened in December 2011 and connects some of Orewa’s newest areas with the Hibiscus Coast beaches, community facilities and the expanding residential areas. FGS Metalwork was approached to manufacture balustrades for the Orewa Cycleway Bridge which was being constructed by the Warehine Group.
FGS Metalwork worked closely with engineers from Hutchinson Consultants to produce the required balustrade and fabricated it all in our Silverdale workshop.
The 7.5km pathway winds its way around the beautiful Orewa Estuary and is a great place for the whole family to get out and enjoy the area together. Distance markers are placed at 1km intervals from the Western Reserve. It’s a great place to walk, run, cycle and push a pram.
Hot dipped galvanised steel was used for the fabrication to ensure longevity in the harsh coastal environment.
